《今日のFUP：587》器ではない
「彼は社長の器ではないと誰もが言う」─ Everybody says he doesn't have what it takes to be company president.
what it takes to be ～で「～になるのに必要なもの」という意味。これで「器」を表現しています。be not cut out to ～「～に向いていない」を使って、次のように言ってもいいでしょう。Everybody says he wasn't cut out to be company president.
（例）「彼女は重役向きではない」─ I don't think she is executive material.

「ここに置いてあった新聞の切り抜きどこへ行ったんだ？」─ Where are the clippings from the newspaper that were right here? / Where are the articles I clipped from the newspaper that were right here?
