《今日のFUP：582》人を寄せ付けない
「彼には人を寄せ付けないところがある」─ He's very distant sometimes.
形容詞distantには「よそよそしい、冷ややかな」という意味があります。keep ～ at arm’s distance「～によそよそしくする」を使って、He tends to keep people at arm's distance.とも言えます。
（例）「最近、彼女はよそよそしくなった」─ She's grown distant from me lately.
前回の復習
「寒い地方で育った人は寒さに強いんだね」─ People brought up in a chilly climate are able to withstand the cold. / People brought up in cold climates are better able to stand cold weather.
「寒さに耐えられる（寒さに強い）」─ be able to withstand the cold
「寒い天気を我慢する」─ stand cold weather
「寒がりだね」─ You really can't stand the cold, can you?
Extra Bit：「寒さで体中がブルブル震えてるじゃないか」─ You're shivering all over with the cold.
