「寒い地方で育った人は寒さに強いんだね」─ People brought up in a chilly climate are able to withstand the cold.
be able to withstand the cold「寒さに耐えられる」で「寒さに強い」を表現。stand cold weather「寒い天気を我慢する」を使って、People brought up in cold climates are better able to stand cold weather.とも言えます。
（例）「寒がりだね」─ You really can't stand the cold, can you?

「私も50を過ぎて、少し焼きが回ったようだ」─ I've sort of lost my touch since I turned 50. / Since I turned 50, I've noticed that I'm not the quick-witted man I used to be.
