「ワールドカップのおかげで、普段ラグビーを見ない母のような人まで、にわかラグビーファンになっている」─ Thanks to the World Cup, even people like my mother, who never watched rugby, are becoming instant rugby fans.
ここでは「にわか」をinstant「即席の」で表現しています。avid「熱心な」とat the drop of a hat「すぐに、たちまち」を使って次のようにも言えます。The World Cup is turning even people like my mother, who never watched rugby before, into avid rugby fans at the drop of a hat.
（例）「ワールドカップがきっかけでラグビーの人気が出るといいね」─ I hope the World Cup will be a catalyst for the popularity of rugby.
