「彼女は悲願の金メダルを獲得した」─ She achieved her long-cherished wish of winning a gold medal.
achieve one’s long-cherished wish of winning a gold medalの文字通りの意味は「金メダルを勝ち取るという長年抱いてきた願いを達成する」。long-cherished wishが「悲願」に当たる表現です。She achieved her long-cherished goal of taking home a gold medal.でも同じような意味になります。
（例）「メダルは取れなかったが、彼はよくやった」─ He did a good job, even if he didn't win a medal.
