「最近の女性は自立している人が多い」─ A lot of women are supporting themselves these days.
「自立している」はsupport oneself「自活する」で表現すればいいでしょう。independent「独立した」を使って、These days there are a lot of independent women.とも言えます。形容詞independent-minded「自立心を持った」も一緒に覚えておきましょう。
（例）「もっと自立心を持たないとね」─ You should be more independent-minded.

「この手の商品は口コミで広まるらしい」─ These goods are getting a lot of publicity by word of mouth. / News of this product is traveling by word of mouth.
「口コミで」─ by word of mouth
「宣伝、広く知れ渡ること」─ publicity
「その出来事はあっという間に知れ渡った」─ Word of the incident spread fast.
Extra Bit：「口コミが一番の宣伝だよ、ただだから」─ Word of mouth is the best advertising, since it's free.
