「記事を読んでいる途中なんだ」─ I'm in the middle of an article.
この場合のin the middle of ～は「～の真ん中に」ではなく、「～の最中に」という意味。My car broke down in the middle of my commute.これで「通勤の途中で車が故障してしまった」と言っていることになります。さらに例文を二つ。I'm in the middle of something urgent.「急ぎの仕事をしてる最中なんだ」、Tell him I'm in the middle of a meeting.「今会議中だと彼に伝えて」。
