第152回

木曜日は「英文法」の日。Practice before theory.「理屈より実践」。さまざな例文を参考にして、使える英文法を身につけましょう。今回も基本動詞Haveを取り上げます。

◆Haveを使いこなす！ (2)◆
日常会話の中でよく用いられる例文を五つ挙げてみます。

【リピーティング】
英文11～15をリピートしましょう。

11. I have to go home early tonight.
→今夜は早く家に帰らないと。
12. I've had it with these telemarketing calls.
→こういう勧誘電話にはうんざりだ。
13. I have nothing to declare.
→何も申告する物はありません。
14. I have yet to sign the contract.
→その契約にはまだサインしていない。
15. I'll have her call you back.
→彼女に折り返し電話させます。




▽解説・穴埋め

【解説】
11. have to ～「～しなければならない」。（例）You don't have to apologize.「謝ることはないよ」。
12. have had it with ～「～にうんざり」。（例）I've had it with your fuzzy-headed thinking.「お前の浮ついた考えにはうんざりだよ」。
13. have＋名詞＋to＋動詞。このパターンを覚えておきましょう。（例）I have a pile of the receipts to sort out.「分類しなくてはいけない領収書が山ほどある」。
14. have yet to ～「まだ～していない」。（例）We have yet to hear from you.「まだ返事が来ていませんが」。
15. この場合のhaveは「～させる、してもらう」という意味。（例）I'm hoping to have him do it for me.「彼に代わりにやってもらおうと思っている」。

日本語の意味なるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

【解説】
16. give it all I've got「持っているものをすべて出す」で「頑張る」を表現。（例）Let's give it all we've got!「お互いに頑張ろうね！」。
17. have had it up to here with ～「～にはうんざり」。この言い回しも覚えておきましょう。brag「自慢する」。「うんざり」にはI've had enough. / That's enough of that.でも表現できます。
18. have got a lot to learn「学ぶことがたくさんある」で「まだまだ」を表現。（例）I have a long way to go.「僕もまだまだな（先は長い）」。
19. have yet to be confirmed「まだ確認されていない」。（例）I have yet to decide on a detailed travel itinerary.「旅行の詳しい日程はまだ決めていません」。
20. have him resend ～「彼に～再送してもらう」。この英文の後に、since it's garbledを続ければ「文字化けしているので」という意味になります。

英文16～20をリピートしましょう。

Haveを使った例文をさらに追加しておきます。

You have nothing to lose.
→失うものは何もない。
This has nothing to do with me.
→これは僕には関係ない。
Will I have to pay a fee to do it?
→それをするには手数料がかかりますか？
You don't have to look at me so coldly.
→そんなに冷たい目で見なくてもいいだろう。
You always have to be true to yourself.
→いつでも自分らしさが大切だ。
I've had it with his lax attitude toward work.
→彼の仕事に対するだらしのない態度にはうんざりだよ。
I don't want to have anything to do with him.
→彼とは関わりたくない。
I feel hesitant to have her do this all on her own.
→これを全部彼女一人にやらさせるのねぇ（ためらいを感じる）。
I have yet to see any profits from my investment.
→投資してどれくらい利益が上がるかはまだこれからだ。
This project has yet to get final approval from management.
→この企画はまだ経営者側から最終的な承認をもらっていない。
