金曜日は「英語表現」の日。日常生活の中で頻繁に使われるさまざまな表現を覚えましょう。毎回、トピックに関連した使える英文を紹介します。今回も「ファッション」です。

6. have good taste in ～「～のセンスがいい」。（例）He has terrible taste in ties.「彼はネクタイの趣味が悪過ぎる」。tasteのかわりにsenseも使えます。
7. choose A over Bで「BよりAを選ぶ」という意味。（例）I choose clothes that last over anything that happens to be in fashion.「流行のものよりずっと使える物を選んじゃうのよね」。
8. be dressed for ～「～向きの服装をしている」。（例）You really look like you're dressed for a vacation resort.「いかにもリゾートって感じの格好だね」。
9. keep up with ～「～について行く」。（例）I can't keep up with the fashions of young girls these days.「最近の若い子たちのファッションにはついて行けないわ」。latest「最新の」。
10. The clothes make the man.「着ている服装でそれなりに見える」が「馬子にも衣装」に当たる言い回し。動詞にmakeが使われている点に注目。
