今日のワンポイント
水曜日《作文》にhave wide contacts「顔が広い」が出てきました。ここで「顔」に関連した言い回しをいくつか挙げておきましょう。
Why the long face?
→何でそんなに浮かない顔をしてるの？
Stop acting like you own the place.
→我が物顔に振る舞うのはよせよ。
He's sure acting big for a newcomer.
→あいつ新人のくせに、ずいぶん大きな顔してるじゃないか。
If you do that, he'll never be able to save face.
→それじゃ、彼の顔が立たない。
Everybody at the bars and restaurants around here knows him.
→彼はこのあたりの店では顔がきくんだ。
