KIRIN Kurashi Theater Off-White House_The ‘House’ as a Device to Outplays Popular Topics Online

New Product Promotion is something that mostly is developed on a massive scale over a short period of time. However, the promotion for Kirin Beer’s new low-malt beer ‘Kirin Off-White’ took place over 9 months, being constructed over a long period of time. The content of this promotion includes the online report on celebrities who stayed at a standalone house, the ‘Off-White House,’ which was built in Oita Prefecture as an embodiment of brand concept. Moreover, using dove-character aerial remote-controlled helicopters, movies of the city residents were released. More so than a normal advertisement, this allowed the real interest of the locale to be conveyed. The strategy of starting small but growing big, we discuss the aspects of this brand project with those involved in its creation.

The fixed concept that “time does not appear in a photograph” has been quietly, peacefully overturned by Sato Tokihiro. Looming up in the blank space of the city is the traces of light drawing. Countless bodies of light float above beaches and forests. In reality those are the vestiges of his action and movements that he, by using his own body yet without leaving its form, imprinted on film. Transcending merely an illusion of special effects, his work closes in on the viewer. Leading the way from his homemade pin-hole camera to digital technology, he chases the relationship of ‘It’s there/It’s not there.’ What are the driving powers behind his creativity?
