Features & Special Reports

Feature 1: Behind the Scenes of the HTML5 Site, We’ll Show You.

Handpicked by the Editorial Board! Concept and Implementation Explained by the Developers

HTML5 and CSS sites constructed with JavaScript have become the norm and cease something which requires special mention in and of itself. This means that ‘Things We Want to Realize’ and ‘Things We Want to Convey’ come first, and using the latest technology or tweaking existing technologies slightly, we think the number of sites that are designed to raise standards in terms of quality have increased. In the half a year since HTML5 was released, our editorial staff chose eight sites and get explanations of site concepts and implementation from their creators. With questions like, “What was the impetus for this kind of design?,” “Why did you choose this implementation?,” and “What areas did you pay special attention to?,” we are guided behind-the-scenes in a way that surpasses simply looking at the site or the source code.

Feature 2: A Lecture on Copyright for Creators Through Q&A

Is Getting Permission Necessary? Is This Image OK? A Lawyer Judges Common Scenarios

In production, doubts regarding copyright often come about. “This photo, is it okay to use it?” “This design, is it fraud?” There are many people who have experienced scenes like this. That being said, why is this area of knowledge so difficult and with so few chances to learn properly? That’s why in this feature we explain through Q&A a variety of ‘seems like I know it, seems like maybe I don’t know it’ copyright issues. We take real-world examples and simple doubts to be judged by teacher of lawyers. Their opinions can provide hints when things are in doubt in business.

Softbank Group announced its news-garnering robot “Pepper.” On September 20th in Bellesalle Shibuya Gardens in Tokyo, an event aimed at app developers called “Pepper Tech Festival 2014” was held. In addition to the Keynote and the pubic disclosure of information on the forms of backup toward development and the use in the contents of the Software Development Kit, etc., a variety of demonstrations occurred. YAMAMOTO Masami (Artist)_Daily Items that Contain Exquisitely Shaped Memories and Time

YAMAMOTO Masami is an artist, who takes everyday things that people wear like clothing or handbags as a motif to make three-dimensional works. So exquisitely shaped that each work can be mistaken for the real thing. Amazingly, however, everything she creates is actually made of ceramic—taking long hours to shape out of clay and fire at high temperatures. Having both continually acquired the technical skills of a ceramicist and announced new works as an artist, YAMAMOTO never ceases her search for the representational possibilities on the borderline between art and craft.
