ISHIKAWA Naoki walked from the North to the South Poles and scaled the highest mountain peaks of the seven continents at the age of 23, making him the world’s youngest person to do so at the of the feat. However, Ishikawa avowed from the beginning “I’m not an adventurer.” What he seeks for is neither to conquer pathless lands nor glory and the thrill he gains from it. It is rather his own “discovery” of the world through travels and photography both of which opened his eyes in boyhood. Driven by such a simple impulse, his expression is also the act of delineating a new world map based on his own experience.
