Features & Special Reports

Feature 1: The Pictorial Parts-Book of International Sites

From Maps to Scroll Navigation of HTML5 Era!

While there are numerous “highlights” regarding Web design, ranging from well-thought-out UI, jaw-dropping rendering, to expressions using the latest technologies, what we have to remind ourselves is that trivial ideas and twists decide the impression of a site as a whole. As a user, you might often get attracted to a tidbit of designs with sentiments like “This menu looks interesting!” and “I didn’t know that such a Favicon existed….” This feature carefully selects sensitive expressions that contributed to the designs of various overseas sites with the focus on each component that constructed the sites. If you are agonizing over the lack of satisfying designs, we recommend that you flip these pages right in front of you. It will surely give you a sudden flash of insight.

HAKUHODO i-studio New-Graduates Recruit Site_Unpredictable Expression with the Active Use of GIF Animation that Attracted the Minds of Job-hunting Students

HAKUHODO i-studio, a digital creative production company, released their 2015 new-graduates recruit site. Using GIF animation to the full extent, it’s composed of designs rather unusual for a corporate recruit site. With the theme of “Future, Unpredictable,” it was produced with an emphasis on concepts and playfulness more than practicality and usability. As a result, the site garnered more entries and applications than the previous year. We talked to the production team with the aim of closing in on the charismatic characteristics of the site, which captured the minds of students who were looking for jobs.

[Special] TSUKURUHITO & Tour De Graphique

KAWAMURA Kosuke (Collage Artist)_Unconscious Creativity behind the Aesthetics of “Cut and Paste”

This is a special edition featuring KAWAMURA Kosuke, a familiar face from one of the serials of this magazine “Tour De Graphique!” We close in on this exceptional talent who taught himself by thrusting into the jungle of collage expression and, while advancing forward on his own path, has collaborated numerous times with figures like TANAAMI Keiichi and Otomo Katsuhiro. In the era when everyone familiarized her/himself with the computer, the act of cut and paste is somewhat casual and useful, and even apt to have its own frivolous impression (exemplified by “copy and paste culture”). However, Kawamura’s work proves the fact that there is a creator who invokes creativity that dwells in the depth of the act.
